Tournaments Prize pool logic updated
The community requested better visibility into how many shares a player has in a tournament, how much of that player you hold, and what their potential pay out might be. We’ve delivered on this with updates to the Tournament page.
Now, each player in a tournament displays the total eligible shares.
Before the snapshot: This represents all shares that have active contracts, not total circulating shares.
After the snapshot: The total shares are locked, and you’ll now see the amount of active shares that count towards tournament rewards.
Note: In a later upcoming update release, this information will also be visible in the player detail pages.
In this first screenshot we see that Bellingham has 90K Shares snapshotted in this tournament. We know these shares have been snapshotted because he has entered the pitch.
When a player's shares are snapshotted, they will never increase. However, snapshotted shares can decrease. This topic is covered below in “Tournament Trading”
When a player has not entered the pitch their points field is shown with a “-”. You will also now see this bench icon to inform you that they are on the bench but could still enter the field. In this state, the player has not entered the pitch yet so their eligible shares could increase until their snapshot is taken. In the screenshot below you will see - Vinicius Junior on the bench, the game is at 72nd minute, and shares are currently at 20K, but not snapshotted since he hasn’t entered the pitch yet.
When you own shares in a player, you will also now see YOUR shares alongside the total eligible share (below). The black share icon shows the amount of owned shares we have against the total snapshotted shares in this tournament.
For players in ranked positions within your tournament squad, their current payout in gold is now displayed. This number can fluctuate based on penalties and position changes, so it’s just a rough indicator at the moment and can vary.
In the example below Valverde is in 4th place, and you hold 900/5K shares, with an estimated payout of +2K gold.
We've made two key adjustments to the overall reward pool logic this week:
Tournaments containing Champions League knockout matches will be Diamond tier and have higher rewards.
Prize pools will now adjust dynamically based on the total amount of Gold spent in the app.
This change ensures that as the app and user base grow, so do the rewards. You can already see the impact in the next tournament, where the prize pool has increased to 186K Gold instead of the previous flat 100K.
We’ve made a major change to how trading works for snapshotted players in tournaments.
A snapshot of tournament eligibility is always taken when a player enters the pitch. For example, as the game kicks-off a snapshot is taken to confirm what player shares are eligible for tournament rewards. But if on the bench, the player is not snapshotted unless he enters the pitch.
Previously, you could sell a player’s shares after they were snapshotted and still receive full rewards. Meaning you could sell your players and rotate into next games as soon as they entered the pitch without consequence.
Now, if you sell shares after a snapshot, those shares are deducted from your tournament reward eligibility.
To maximize your rewards with this change, you must now hold your shares until tournament rewards are distributed.
When a player is not on the pitch, you can trade shares freely without penalties.
When a player enters the pitch, their shares are snapshotted.
If you sell shares after this point, your snapshotted amount decreases.
Example:
When you have shares in a player that has entered the pitch. Your holding in that player is snapshotted and your holding of the player is added to your tournament squad automatically.
Below we have 900 out of 5k shares of Valverde.
Previously we could go and sell all our shares in Valverde and still be eligible for rewards.
Now if we sell shares in a player in our tournament squad, those shares are dedicated from our snapshot amount.
Let’s say we decide to sell 50% of our shares in Valverde our snapshot will be reduced to 450 shares.
The important thing to note here is that your snapshot can only decrease. In the above scenario if you sell shares in Valverde and then buy them back afterwards, your shares will not increase back to 900, and will still be at 450.
However, if you buy shares after your snapshot, increasing your total holding to an amount higher than the snapshot, and then sell those shares, there is no penalty applied.
Example Scenario:
Snapshot: 900 Valverde Shares
You buy 100 more shares -> Total holding = 1000 shares
You sell 50 shares -> No penalty (snapshot remained at 900)
You sell another 100 shares -> Snapshot drops to 850 and will no longer be able to increase back to the 900 original snapshot
